I’m old :}  I started playing in, about, 1980, when I was already well into my 20s – and it was only a couple of years before I was DMing, building a game-world and talking my mates into setting up a campaign, where we could play the same characters as more than a one-off.  We tried a number of systems but D&D was always our main game, and while I still play other systems and genres occasionally, I was stuck with a D&D mentality – perhaps because I have loved fairy-tale and mythology from the time I learned to read, and D&D has always encapsulated that better than other systems I have tried.

I started playing, online, at the forerunner to PlayByWeb in the late 90’s and started running my first Play By Post game in 1999.  For a while, I was President of PBW, but eventually moved my games to RPoL, I took a break, to help build persistent worlds for Neverwinter Nights, but eventually went back to playing at RPoL.  While I have failures, most of my games last for years, the last RPoL game ran for seven years, my Table Top games tend to last three years, or so – and my Birthday Campaign, run once a year to celebrate my wife’s birthday, ran for ten years.  That finished last year, and I am gearing up for the next one …

That’s about it really, except (perhaps) to say that I have a broad interest in history, mainly the social side, rather than the political or military side, and re-enact both battles and civilian life in the 17th and 18th centuries.
